The Home Stretch
"On Oh Bishops ... " Even though a major part of our athletic activities are over for the year, our spring teams are priming to take the field. No balls have been thrown, no strikes, a hundred-yard stretch lies before us, an equal chance with your running mate. But is this equal chance all that is necessary? N o, behind the teams that we are to field must be the hard work of the boys themselves, the co- operation and hope of the coach to build a smooth working team. Team spirit, the fighting spirit of eleven men, of nine men as one.
No one in school is proud of this year's athletic records. The action on the part of every boy is our only al- ternative now as we enter the last half of the ninth inning . . . "fight to the finish, never give in."
Opinion Slips
The response of the school to the library opinion slips was very en- couragin
In regard to those slips turned in, the results ran along these lines: Ninety-seven of the books were read completely. This shows that the opin- ions expressed were made on the whole book and ore therefore more accurate. The fact that more than half of them were read for fun shows that the boys do a great deal of read- ing for pleasure in addition to paral- lel. The general run of opinions were very complimentary to the library. Twenty out of the thirty slips rated the books as "swell," seven were rated as "good but not the best," two were rated as "dull," and only one received a rating of "not worth read- ing."
felt sympathy to the family of Mr. C. C. Macleod upon his re-
cent death. Mr. Macleod was one of the most beloved men in the city of Lynchburg.
