Bishops Up
The Bishops opened their '48 track season April 16 with a bang by de- feating Hargrave 62-55 on John- son Field.
Hal Jackson proved to be big wheel for the Bishops with a first in both the shot and the high hurdles. White led the losers with a first in the broad jump, the pole vault, and the low hurdles for a total of fifteen points.

trackmen took to the mud like ducks as they defeated the Bishop harriers by a score of 78)1:! to 38)1:! on the Bishops' track.
The Bishops taking two first places and a tie for another, left all the other top spots to the Military boys. Hal Jackson won first in the 120- yard high hurdles, Fielding Lewis a first in the discus; and Paul Taylor tied for a first with Greenwood of Fork Union.
Heavy rains had turned the track and field to a heavy mud, slowing the
time on all of the running events and holding the jumpers down.

So far this season, the Bishop tennis team has lost three and won one of its matches. The "racket boys" under the direction of Mr. Wyatt have three remaining games. They meet Staunton May 5, there; Hargrave May 15, there; and St. Christopher's May 21, there. The Bishop tennis team is composed of M a t t Akers, Frank Akers, Charles Cardwell, John Thompson, Armistead Wellford and Dave White.
