Bishops Fall To Bedford
The Bedford Otters eeled out a
67-41 victory against us, but not be- fore Miltie Barber soared over 5'8" in the high jump. Milt was our out- standing performer in a meet where V.E.S. tried to get its feet on solid ground.
had edged Razor Leggett's Garnett Tearn by the staggering total of 88-82. The meet was highlighted by " Peck" Parker's dive for the finish line halfway round the track in the 440. High scorers were Smiley Jones in the senior division and Craighill ir the juniors.

Our thinclads put up a valiant ef- fort, but the Saints had too many good performers. Our lone Ist came in the broad jump, when Johnny Hunt leaped 19 feet 2 inches. Pete Way lost a heartbreaking mile by an inch c')t the most. In the pole vault, Mohr
missed I0' by an inch and finished 2nd also. Hash tied for first in the high jump.

Despite threatening skies and lack of condition, V. E. S.'s thundering herd descended to the mists of Johnson
Field for the annual field day. When the smoke had cleared and the last runner carried away, it was found that Tommy Hassell's White Tearn
