AS HEADMASTER HERE

Barton, Jr., on June 30, 1957.
Mr. Walke comes from quite a schooling background. As a student, he went t o Episcopal High School and then on to Princeton to graduate "magna cum laude" in his class. After obtaining his B.A. degree there, he attended George Washing- ton University and earned a M.A. degree. PAINT, PLASTER BRIGHTEN HALLS AND CLASSROOMS
Returning boys saw a great many changes around V. E. S. The first thing we saw as we walked inside was the new paint job on the main hall and the two side lounges. Boys living on the Diaper Dorm also saw a new coat of paint.
Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt painted the main hall of the infirmary and also classroom seven. The infirmary also has a new set of curtains.
The main lounge is in the process of being redecorated by the deco- rating committee of the school. This

Mr. Black
Mr. Henry Hamilton Black was
born in Asheville, North Carolina, and lived there until he finished ele- mentary school. He then moved tc Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he completed his high school edu- cation.
After attending St. Petersburg College for one year, he went on to Cambell College for another. His last two years of college were spent at Florida Southern College, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1957.
Mr. Black is teaching Algebra and General Science here at school.
School Reopens For Forty-Second Session
V. E. S. opened its doors to admit students for the 42nd session on Sep- tember 9th. Many new faces were seen around the campus-53 new faces, to be exact. There are 18 day boys this year, and it is hoped that they will be a big help to the school.
Mr. Daniel
One of the two new teachers this year at V. E. S. is Mr. Nat V. Daniel. Jr., who was born in Oxford, N. C., in 193I and has lived there the greater part of his life. He attended Davidson College and worked hard majoring in English.
Then Mr. Daniel joined the Navy and was first stationed at Ellyson Field, near Pensacola, Florida as a Chaplain's assistant and editor of the station's newspaper. His next step was to become a member of the first crew of the U.S.S. Forrestal.
After completing his Navy duty, Mr. Daniel returned to Davidson, and completed his college studies. From Davidson, he came to V. E. S., where he replaces Mr. Erwin Hester, who has returned to the University of North Carolina for advanced study.
A heavy rain slowed down t h e "Merry Go Round" but with the aid of the station wagon, all the new boys were able to get introduced to the masters at school.
