BROOKVILLE 3, V. E. S. 0
O n T h u r s d a y , A p r i l 2, V i r g i n i a Episcopal School opened its base-
ball season against the Bees of Brookville High School. Both teams were scoreless in the first inning. Milstead opened up for Brookville in the second inning with a single. L e f f e l w a s t h e n w a l k e d , Mi l s t e a d stole third, and Brookville had a man in scoring position. After Styles had grounded out to shortstop, Hunter and Camden hit and got on base due to Bishop errors, driving in two runs with Hunter scoring on a sacrifice fit to give the Bees three.
The following innings saw little action and other than a brief drive by Brookville in the third frame, no scoring threat.
Then in the bottom of the seventh the Bishops filled up the bases due to two Brookville errors and Gray's single. With V. E. S. having no men out, Coach John Hill brought in John Frady to relieve Glen Styles, who had pitched a four-hitte:r up to that point.
Frady fanned pinch hitter Lanny Pratt and pitcher Dale Carter then forced Cunningham to ground out to second bose to end the game, the Bees winning 3-0.
Both Styles and Carter pitched superior games, each hurler allowing his opponents only four hits. Besides the spectacular pitching, there were two spectacular catches made. Brookville's left fielder Ashly Miller made a running catch in the fifth and center fielder Penn Joslyn of V. E. S. made a running, diving, somersaulting catch in the sixth.

The J. V.'s evened up their sea- son with a loss t o Brookville, 13-1 . The Junior Bishops were unable to hit the pitching of Roll, the Brook- ville hurler. Sloppy support in the field t o g e t h e r with Brookville hits gave the Bees at least one run in every inning. Roll struck out 15 and Wood, who pitched the game for t h e J . V .'s f a n n e d 12.
