Virginia Episcopal School's track- men swept the first event of the day, the shot put, and were never headed as they completed the schools first perfect season in eighteen years with a convincing 82-36 win over Nelson County High School of Lov- ingston Tuesday afternoon on the VES track. The sweep of the shot put was highlighted by a record shattering performance by big Jim Shanklin, who b e t t e r e d his own record by more than 20 feet when he tossed the sphere 48 feet 9 3/4 inches .

The biggest upset of the day came in the pole vault, with Jim Blackwell, Skip Rawls and George Nelson sweeping the evenf. Bill Bottger legged it home second in the mile and Bill Mayo grabbe.::l a second in the discus with his best throw of the season. Ed Lewis, John Gregory, and Jim Shanklin rounded out the scoring for the well-balanced V.E.S. squad with thirds in the 220, 880, and shot, respectively-.

BISHOPS DOWN SAINTS IN UPSET
Jim Douthat, Kirk Groome, Ned Bonfoey and Austin Cooke accounr ed for 43 points os Virginia Episco- pal School's unbeaten track team continued its winning ways with a stunning 61-52 upset over St. Christ- opher's of Richmond at V.E.S. Satur- day. For the fourth time in six meets this season Douthat was a triple winner in the I00, 220, and 440. His
