ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Many alumni have been contribut- ing annually to the Alumni Scholar- ship Fun. As you know, this fund is established to help some alumnus send his boy to V.E.S. The income from our investments now amounts to about four hundred fifty dollars annually. This amount is divided among three alumni who have asked for help. It is not much but will go a long way to help somebody get to V.E.S.
W e hope more alumni will make generous contributions to this worthy cause. Nothing will renew your in- terest in any organization more than a regular contribution to it.
During the past summer we were able to make some improvements in the physical equipment of the school. such as Laboratory equipment for the Sciences, new desks for the study hall and class rooms, new floors on the inside and walks on the out- side.
Please keep us informed as to your change of address, addition to your family or an}" other interesting things that happen to you. We like to keep a live alumni column.

V. E. S. MARRIAGES
Two o f our masters, Mr. Ralph
Boersma and Mr. R. M. Meador, joined the ranks of the married dur- ing the summer holidays.
Mr. Meador's wife is the former Miss Jackie Harper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harper of Bed- ford, Virginia. The ceremony took place on June 19 in the Main Street Methodist Church of Bedford.
Mr. Boersma's wife is the former Miss Ann Hayes, daughter of Mrs. Jack Hayes of Winter Park, Florida. The wedding took place here at the Langhorne Memorial Chapel on June 9th.
NEW IMPROVEMENTS
Many new improvements can be seen in and around the school this year. A new walk has replaced the muddy path over to the gym, for example. It is a wide brick walkway which vastly improves the appear- ance of the gym and the surround- ing area.
In the interior of the school there are also many major improvements, the most noticeable of which is the modernizing of the Study Hall. The walls have been entirely repainted, the floor has been tiled, and new desks replace the old ones. New doors were added and green chalk boards have replaced the old ones.
Most of the classrooms have also been painted, tiled, and new desks have been installed. New green chalk boards have supplanted the old worn ones, and fluorescent lights have been installed in many rooms.
The laboratory has had some new tables put in to provide more space for experiments, and the library has been converted into a large science lecture room. The new library now occupies a larger space in the base- ment adjacent to the dining hall.
Though much of what has been done is in the nature of repair, it
is also apparent that many of our new facilities are major steps in the growth of a school.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LIBRARY
During the past year, the school library has increased by about 400 volumes owing to the purchases of Mr. Wyatt and to the kind contribu- tions of friends. Among these con- tributions were books from the Na- tional Association for the Advance- ment of Science, and from Tom Andrews, Ted Hall, and Glenn Mc- Caskey, all members of the class of '59.
The library, hoping that friends continue to give as generously• as they have in the past, is trying to increase the number of volumes from forty-four hundred to five thou- sand.
