FROSH CO-CAPTAINS Norwood and Roach with Coach Chew.
V. E. S. freshmen football team, coached by Mr. R. C. Chew and Dr. William Parish, ended its season with a 4-2 record . Adapting easily to
Rock Lee's new quick hitting forma- tion, the Baby Bishops ended with a better record than either the Varsity of J. V. ball clubs.
The mighty mites' offensive punch was led by Ken Roach, a 135 pound sophomore. In six games he gained over 700 yards rushing and ac- counted for 42 points.
The quarterback position was held by Norwood and Voglar. Outstand- ing in the line was John Bennet, a hard-hitting center from Chapel Hill. This Bishop team had excellent self- discipline, and played with an unusual amount of unity.
The two games were lost to the same Nelson County Jayvee team. Th.s team was bigger and older than the Baby Bishops' and also had more experience. Despite these two loses, this 1964 edition of freshmen foot- ball has to be termed as one of the best in recent years.
