Music: It was of interest to the audience to know that this was the first production of "Billy Budd" any- where in which Melville's poignant ballad "Billy in the Darbies" was used as an integral part of the drama.
Special music for the ballad was composed by Mr. Gunn, Music Di- rector of V.E.S., with Mr. Hudnall, Bill Smyth, Bill Foster, Mike Sheble, and Mr. Gunn himself as balladeers, and Dick Cowper as guitarist.
Other incidental music for the production was taken from Benjamin Britten's sea operas "Peter Grimes,'' "Billy Budd, " and several Spanish sea ballads for guitar.
