Science Department Stresses Individual
Laboratory Research
Building on the strong basic understanding of subject matter it has always stressed, The Science Department provided many new opporhmities for individual achievement.
The Department put much more emphasis this year on laboratory work and individual research than in previous years. The laboratory offered students the chance for practical experience outside the classroom; thus, students had to think more for themselves and to rely less on memorization.
Previous to this year, the Science Department had been experimenting with different formats in the sciences in an attempt to find the best course. The Department made a conscious effort to keep up to date with modern trends in the scientific world. "This year," Department Head Silas Daugherty said, "we seem to have found the right science course."
