·Newboy Talent Makes Tennis Team Stronger
Bill White plays close to the net as Dick Moon returns a long ball.
Returning letterman Lee Heath lobs one across the net during practice.
With the invaluable training offered
by Coaches Rod Goggin and Maurice Everett
(the pro at Boonsboro Country Club), the
Varsity tennis team had prospects for a winning season and a high Prep League ranking.
Because almost all lettermen returned,
including juniors Lee Heath, Hill Cassell, and
Doug Hebard, and senior Prescott Gay,
the team had the advantage of experience.
Also, with the addition of several new boys,
Chip Freeman, Richard Moon,
Bill White and T. Upshur,
signs were even more promising
for a first-class team this year
and an unbeatable combination for 1971.
The prospects for the Junior Varsity tennis team, coached by Col. Frank Sullivan,
also appeared hopeful.
Freshman Chip Freeman launches another powerful serve during a match. The new members contributed much to an already fine team.
