that has just been found. Coaches Horror, Mundy, and Kiefer helped greatly with the moral support of the team. This was reflected throughout the

squeeze out a viCtory. Compared to the previous
season, Mr. Foster said that the schedule was much tougher, with matches added against Ravenscroft, Episcopal, and highly-rated Landon School.
Considering the outlook for next year, Mr. Foster said it does not look very bright. Next year's team will miss graduating seniors Blitz James, Bill Driskill, Louis Darden, Ford Mays, and Robbie Pearson. Returning will be sophomores Paul Owen, Tom Milstead, and John Mays.

Coach Atkins was impressed with the midfield, saying that they improved a lot, were good on defense, and consistent on offense. "Most of the V arsity midfield are graduating, and the
J.V.ought to be good enough next year to help out on that team. Lastly, he liked the way the team hustled all through the season, which has not always happened in the past.

This year's J.V. Tennis team,
coached by Mr. Murchison, just missed having a winning season. The team was generally young and without a lot of tournament experience, but they worked hard to improve their strokes and gained valuable experience.
Newcomer John Lee was captain and played number one for the last eight matches. Returning player Jensie Teague played the number two spot through most of the season, and teamed with Ed Penick, another returning player (who was out much of the season with a toe injury), to form the number one
doubles team.
The team's overall record was
5 wins and 6losses, and 2-3 in the Prep League. The team's most impressive victory was their second match with Linkhorne.
The team avenged an earlier 9-0 loss to the crosstown rival by beating them 7-2 on their home
courts.
Coach Murchison had this to say about the season: "Though we just missed having a winning
season, I have been encouraged by the improvement these younger players have made. Except for Ed Penick, they should all be back next year, giving next year's squad eight returnees rather than two."

Despite the disappointing 1-8
record posted by the J.V . Baseball team this season, Coach Will Jenkins was pleased with the performance of his team during the season. "Basically a J.V. team is organized to teach the boys the fundamentals of the
game as well as good sportsmanship," Jenkins noted. "I think these fellow~ have come a long way. I am satisfied with
their performances, and except for one notable exception, it's been a good season."
Outstanding members of the team included third-year player Rodney Taylor and second-year
player Trent Dickerson. Other contributors included Sterling Hall, Joel Barrier, Frank
V. Baseball
Wilkinson, Joe
Martin Arguello, Dinky Harper, John Block, James Johnson, and Larry Jones.
"We have a widely diversified team from an eighth grader to several juniors", concluded
Jenkins. I look forward to several players moving up to help the Varsity team in the next few years."
