For the past several Wednesday nights, a small
number of faculty and students
have been meeting in various
faculty homes. Contrary to early
suspicion, this is not a subversive
element, but a discussion group.
An idea of Chaplain Bauer's, the gruup meets weekly tor prayers,
communion, ami fellowshio.
A typical meeting was held at the Jenkin's house on November 9. The meeting started with
individual prayers followed by a brief communion service. The group.then adjourned for light
refreshments and later returned to their seats. Each week a different member starts the discussion on a topic of general interest, and this week's topic was reincarnation. Whenever a
member of the group feels so moved, he offers his opinion or comment on the subject. The discussion went on in an open and freemoving manner and, gradually, different, but relative
topics were discussed. There were no arguments or subjective remarks which helped the members feel free to talk and listen with an open mind. The meeting adjourned at 11:00.
ft may be said that these meetings add a positive, optimistic element to our community because it allows students and faculty to communicate openly and freely in a non-classroom situation. It al'SO teaches students lO respect
the opinion of others while not being afraid to express their own
