A new club is rising at V.E.S.
It is caUed the Anti-Metric Association. Sound strange? You may think so, but the members are serious. They strongly disarree with the Metric system.
The group primarily consists of middle school students. The officers are as follows: Bud Walker, President; Greg Ander· son, vice-pre ident; Adam Hurt. Secretary of State; Winston
Casey, Secretary of War.
The group's argument is that it is not worth all the money to convert from our present
system to the Metric system. It is human nature to resist change. The Metric system is fine for scientic purposes, but nothing else. People say it is
easier to use Metric, but is it worth the millions of dollars,
just for convenience?

Several clubs have been form-
ed at VES to suit the needs of the student body.
If you just want to have a good time, the games club meets occasionally to create and play new and unusual games. Brian Matheson organizes the group.
If you sometimes get into arguements about the rules, maybe you ought to join the debate club.
Supervised by Mr. Peebles, the debate club is. a team of
•
orators which plan and hold organized arguments regularly, but if you're still hot-headed and are determined to beat your op- ponent, why not join the shooting club? Although they do not specialise in manslaughter,
the shooting club offers hunters safety courses and oppor· tunities for skeet shooting. Mr. Jenkins is the advisor to this group and would be glad to sup· ply information about the club to interested students.
Also under the supervision of
Mr. Jenkins, the science club

bad luck. The baffling feature of our attitude toward athletics is
tapped. Our "luck" will then im· prove greatly.
Why should we make this ef· fort? As members of a caring community, we should do every· thing in our power to make VES
as strong and as growing an institution as is possible. Furthermore, we owe it to our·
selves to develop as fuJiy as our talent and energies permit. We clearly have the talents. Now, let's have the will and energy to
