Surrounding the aculpture atood a metal fence; a bit uneven and wobbly. Upon the platform, made of the aame rock u the lt.atuea, atood a lifeaize image of a ~J~an in hia early fifties. He gaz- ed at the cloud& with hia banda behind hia b.elt u if he were en•
joying the tranquil elegance of an empty park. Several other im-
ages were scattered about the mountain-like platform in the of clombing the roclt. They were apparently following him. The man was standing in a
sort of reining position. His face was clear, almost a perfect image of me. His posture reminded
several ~pie of a warlord, al-
though be wasn't. His old,
weather-beaten shoes seemed to
brace him upon the steep hill like
they were cemented there. The
people groveled upon the earth-
like hill trying to get to the top,
but their lifeless bodies remain- ed frozen . The statue just stood
there aa if something were going to happen; nothing disrupted his
peace.-His tattered clothes gave him the appearane.e of .a hard working leader. H1s sh1rt bad almost become part of him. Rips, dirt, and wrinkles decorated the once clean pants on his leg~. He was a rather stout man, With a well proportioned posture. T~e
weatherbeaten rock images still stood; with the same sears, detail, and wonder that have re-
mained with them for several years.
