Religion
One of the longest standing traditions of Virginia Episcopal School is its strong religious heritage. In ad- dition to daily corporate worship, religion is an integral part of the academic curriculum.
Religious studies at V.E.S. include a familiarization with the Bible as the primary source of the Judeo- ' Christian tradition. The student sees how the Church has been expressed through time, literature and theol- ogy. In addition, Ethics and Comparative Religions of- fer an understanding of man's relationship to God in specific life situations within the context of our own
pluralistic world.
Prior to graduation the student will normally have
taken three trimesters of religious studies with course offerings such as an Introduction to Religious Thought, Old and New Testament, Bible, Church History, Eth- ics, Comparative Religions, and a senior seminar on Religious Topics. Assisting the Chaplain, the Rev. Mr. Pittman, are Mssrs. Armstrong, Berry, and the Rev. Mr. Hackett.
