The Foreign Language Department at VES remains one of the largest in the School. Chaired by Mr. Brown, who also teaches German, it is comprised of Mr. Culbertson, Mr. Garmey, and Mr. Boney who teach French, Mr. Sullivan who teaches Spanish, and Mr. Meador, Mrs. Hackett, and Mr. Hackett who teach Latin.
In an effort to improve its visibility within the School, the department is working to integrate its in- struction into other disciplines. As a joint venture between the History Department and the Foreign Language Department, VES sent a delegation to the Model Assembly of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C. In addition, it is working with the Math Department to better utilize the School's computers. Students are also encouraged to travel abroad in order to make the study of foreign language and culture more meaningful.
