As the fall season ends, it ill time for the seniors to reflect on their
athletic &eiiODII. Hopefully, the fall season was one to be remembered and one that will stay with them the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, there were times during the season when things started to go wrong. For example, after the football team went 3-1, the bottom feel out from under it. What happened? I think there was no simple answer, rather a combination of things. Firat, the team let down Its Intensity during practice and before games. Second, there was no such thing as
a gift or break, eapecially at St. Chriatophen, during the remaining game.. Third, and moat Important, when the team saw it was
The girls' varsity volleyball team finished the season with a record of one win and four losses.
The win came against Holy Cross High School at Holy Cross. Coach Robertson notes that the team showed great improve-
ment over the course of the season. Only a few players had actual volleyball experience
working well as a unit, and there is a great promis for improv• ment next year.

who unfortunately spent the whole season on the sidelines with an injured knee, Trip Den- nis, Bruce Mullen, Gbenga Akinfe, Troy Ashe, Putt Wetherbee, Stuart Mercer, Tim
O'Hey, Robert Workman, Matt Joyner, Ben Cannon and Scoop Fant. The team, however, still
has a solid nucleous of sopho- mores and juniors along with many top prospects coming up from the undefeated JV squad. Even with the second half slide, the Bishops still tripled their win
total from last year and are looking to build toward an even brighter future.

This year's JV soccer team finished the season with a com- mendable 9-5 record. Six of the games were against varsity teams and the Bishops still managed to win four of these.
Coach Bob Leake felt the team performed better than expected chiefly because of its solid winn- ing attitude. Winning was not hard for the Bishops, with an of- fense led by team captain Scott
Simonsen (14 goals - a new school JV record, at least in the 'Leake' era) and the defense an- chored by Mike Bradshaw, who played very well at sweeper back
all year long. They were ably supported by midfielder and team captain AI Wheless, defender and team captain Mike Taylor, who after seven years playing soccer finally managed a
goal, backs John Flippin and newcomer Carleton Revere and goal keepers Bill Dandridge and
Clark Boyk.in.
Coach Leake foresees a winn-
ing season again next year with the Deacons sending up many talented players who should gain
valuable experience and develop better personal skills. In this way th JV Blahopa should re- main a top contender In the Prep

This year's cross country team
did well despite having lost a number of outstanding runners from last year. Several strong in- dividual performances were turned in throughout t~e year. On the boy's team, senior Llyal Gordon was named to the All- Prep and All-State squads. Co-
Captains Charles Davis and Rick Potter turned in steady finishes, as did senior Jim Battle and underclassmen Conrad Adams, Herndon Stokes, J elf Fisher and
David Rose.
The season was one of mixed
highs and lows. The Bishops ran their best meet at home on Parents' Weekend, defeating St. Christophers and Collegiate, but
only finished sixth in Prep League meet, also run on VES' hilly 3.1 mile course, and eighth
inthe State Meet.
The JV and women's teams nifer Lewis and Ginny Haslam.
