With the arrival of female students on campus, students in Mr. Sullivan's Spanish II classes decided to investigate the attitudes of the predominantly male community toward the presence of f~males. What follows are the unscientific and admittedly subjective results
of a survey, conducted in Spanish, to a random sample of 30 male students and faculty. Perhaps the only bias that need be considered about the sample group is that to answer the questions, a certain degree of bilingualism needed to be present. One could hypothesize that the presence of the ability to use more than one language also im· plies the presence of a more liberal, well-rounded, multi-cultural set of attitudes.
Fortunately or unfortunately, only those with some ability to read Spanish will be able to discover the "truth." The results are given by the percentage of peope who responded "true" the the following statements.

The VES experience is
generally intended to develop
young boys, and now reluctantly
young girls, into selfconfident,
independent human beings. For
th most part this is accomplish-
ed, largely due to the surroun-
dings the students are placed in.
Living in the dorms greatly aids
0
in this development, as students are taught how to live and work with one another in extremely close quarters. One dorm direct- ly and indirectly is harmful to these intentions of the school · Randolph, better known as
'Romper Room.'
As we are among, the few, the
unlucky seniors that occupy this asylum, we are constantly in touch with its insane in- habitants. There must be something in the air they breathe over here, because these new boys never calm down! We have never seen anything like it in our years here, and that in· eludes the 1985 senior class. In- deed, we have tried to adjust to the situation, and we invite
anyone in our domain to learn
firsthand exactly what goes on in
case anyone things we're exage-
rating. But we warn you to use extreme caution while observing
these creatures; be careful walk- ing down the hall and watch out for strange flying objects - known as new boys - running
walk in your path. Please don't feed them because that may en- courage them to do more and we do have to live here! Everyone is oblivious to the fact this is a dorm and also their home for a year. Despite going to bed early for most of the year, they tear through walls and rooms as if they were eating ice cream at a party without any regard for other people or property.
In our opinion, the decision to turn Randolph into a younger person's dorm has been a fiasco. The counselors are taxed to tht>
limits af their endurance hand- ing out demerits and behaviorals - is retaliation that far behind? We think after the last dorm meeting the Romper Roomers may have gotten the message,
