GREENSBORO DAY SCHOOL | 1 | 2015-16 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Greensboro Day School community, As I walk the campus each day, I am reminded of the remarkable changes that have taken place over the past five years with the addition of The Bell Family Middle School, eight tennis courts, the Auxiliary Gym located in the Freddy Johnson Athletic Complex and the expansive Keeley Commons. Each of these new areas is a wonderful testament to the love and generosity of our past and current parents, grandparents, alumni and friends who have a deep and abiding appreciation for what Greensboro Day School has meant in their lives and to the Greensboro community. With our successful efforts to raise over $550,000 for the Annual Fund in 2015-16, GDS continues to provide the Triad with the most comprehensive academic PK-12 program and the finest educational facilities. I offer many thanks to the leaders who have made these fundraising campaigns a success, especially to last year’s Annual Fund First Chairs, Marianne and Jim Bennett. Our 2016 graduates have started their college careers prepared by our faculty to take on challenging academic programs at such institutions of learning as Stanford, Haverford, Georgetown, St. Olaf, Swarthmore, Vassar, Wake Forest, Duke, Emory, UNC, and Vanderbilt. And, our early reports are that our students are taking on leadership roles, excelling academically, and thriving in their new environments. I am proud to report that we have been nationally recognized as the first school in the United States to receive the prestigious Excellence in Ethical Education certification from the Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education. Our counseling department led this effort, and our faculty and students have joined them in putting into practice the tenets of our program. This work is incredibly important as we continue to develop the ethical, interpersonal, and intellectual foundations our students need to become constructive contributors to the world. Thank you for your contributions to this dynamic school. I am grateful to each of our donors and look forward to another wonderful year. With gratitude, Mark C.
