  Washington National Cathedral
St. Albans was founded in 1909 as a school for choristers in the then-unbuilt National Cathedral, and the cathedral continues to be a vital and beloved place for all our students, teachers,
and alumni. Each fall, our oldest and youngest students process into the cathedral together for an Opening Day service. In June, seniors burst out the cathedral doors and jump down the steps, cheering for each other after commencement. Throughout the year, students study the cathedral and its grounds, exploring the buttresses
and stained glass, the American presidents memorialized there — even the garden plants mentioned in Chaucer. For student musicians, the cathedral provides a world-class venue for performances. For each boy, simply looking up at the cathedral towers is an awe-inspiring experience he will carry with him through life.
