P. 3
in this issue from the president
Dear Friends,
As this issue of Spirit brings you up to date on Cor Jesu’s exciting plans for the future, I want to express
with “one heart” my gratitude to and for the many members of the CJ community, who are making our
long-range goals a reality. These ambitious goals are materializing only because Cor Jesu IS a community
imbued with one heart, one spirit and one vision!
This unified community surrounds and supports Cor Jesu and ensures it is a second home for our students,
a place where important relationships are fostered – with God, friends and the larger community. It ensures
that CJ remains a place where students grow in intellectual acuity, in self-awareness, in integrity and in
confidence that leads them to lifelong learning and leadership roles in their respective communities and
beyond – engaging and transforming the world, rather than just observing it.
Cor Jesu graduates invariably talk about teachers of deep faith and character who impacted their lives,
challenging them to discover and explore their gifts and modeling a faithful response of appreciation,
humility and service to others. And that mentoring extends well beyond the classroom. Ranging from CJ’s
5 4 12 Penny Queen week of innovative student-led activities that directly support worthy charities to monthly
Service Saturdays that provide the framework for students, faculty and parents to stand side-by-side in
service to the neediest and most underserved, every aspect of a Cor Jesu education is meant to fulfill our
departments & features motto, “Sharing the Love of the Heart of Christ.”
