GOAL
CAMPAIGN KICKOFF
The heart, spirit and vision of Cor Jesu were
in full force on Sunday, April 27, 2014, when
more than 550 members of the CJA com-
munity gathered to launch the school’s One
Heart ~ One Spirit ~ One Vision Capital Cam-
paign.
Reflective of the crux of a Cor Jesu education,
the campaign theme symbolizes the unity of
the entire school community – alumnae, par-
ents, past parents, grandparents and friends
– who have worked together to realize our
REACHED! young women in the charism of the Apostles
shared goal: enhancing a CJ education for
of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. And it is that one
heart, that one spirit and that one vision that,
united, is making the new performance gym-

FEBRUARY 2016:
GOAL REACHED!
With the one spirit that launched the campaign, the
Cor Jesu community came together with one heart
and vision to reach the school’s most ambitious cap-
ital campaign goal in its 60-year history! Thanks to
nearly 2,000 generous donors, close to $10 million
has been raised in just under three years to fund the
new gym, commons, classrooms and chapel, as well
as increase the endowment for financial assistance.
“Not only are we thrilled to have reached this incred-
ible milestone,” said President Sr. Barbara Thomas,
ASCJ, “we are extremely humbled by the generosity
of so many in the Cor Jesu community, who believe
strongly in our mission of educating young women
in spirit, mind and body. We never could have ac-
complished this without such loyal donors.”
With a solid, 60-year foundation of providing a pre-
mier Catholic education to young women, the new
building and increased endowment will augment
CJ’s impact for the students with innovative facili-
ties, programs and more financial aid for deserving
students. The new gym will also allow Cor Jesu to
partner with the Catholic community in hosting
events. Having reached the campaign goal by March
2016, Cor Jesu can break ground this May on the
$8.9 million gym and commons building with a fin-
ish date slated for the Fall of 2017. Once that phase
of construction is completed, future plans for the
new chapel will follow.
“We are on the threshold of a very exciting time in
CJ’s history,” Sr. Barbara added. “With our rich pres-
ence in St. Louis that began in September 1956
and with so much promise for the future, Cor Jesu
is poised to not only continue empowering our stu-
dents and graduates to transform the world, but
