t took 2-1/2 months to hear that sound, but when it finally rang three times
over – it was three times as sweet, just like Mango Party Lip Gloss.
IKanisha Hayden ‘21, along with her sister, Anisha Hayden (14), and her mom, Lekisha
Hill, took their passion for creating unique items and turned it into a business during the
summer of 2019. The inspiration started with Lekisha, who had been creating body butters
for years to sell to her friends. Kanisha and Anisha decided they wanted in on the action,
too, and both took to their own creations: Kanisha – lip gloss; Anisha – body scrub.
Combine the three and Kulture, LLC was born on July 14, 2019,
and celebrated its first “cha-ching” 2-1/2 months later.
“The three of us were in the car driving to my brother’s football game and the ‘cha-ching’
sounded on all three of our phones at the same time,” Kanisha said. “It was Kulture’s first order
and it came all the way from North Carolina. We all started screaming – we were so excited!”
