P. S. Tennis has fared remarkably well thi s
eason, winning six of nine matches. The team
opened the campaign with a st rong group of
veteran and some excellent newcomers. Among
the victims of the racket men were such notables as
Exeter and Dee rfield . Very close los e to Groton
and the Dartmouth Freshmen were disa ppointing ,
yet well fought.
The team has had superb leadership from
Captain Dave ayward. Playing number three, he
was a fierce compe titor and a great inspiration to
the rest of the players. re hman rookie Henry
Bunis and senior Dan Gordon played numbers one
and two , respectively . Bunis was a great help to
the team, and the steady Gordon frequently came
up wi th big wins. Dave LeBreton , at number four,
wa s dependable , and at iles, Bruce Bossidy, and
Al Belden provided strong, vital depth . The dou–
ble teams were Sayard-Bunis, Gordon-Bossidy,
and Belden-LeBreton . ound teamwork and com–
plementing games produced consistent winners.
The tennis team has Mr. Lederer to thank for
bringing out the very best in his players. The team
owes much of its succe s to hi knowledge of the
game, his unfaltering confidence, and his easy–
going go d humor.
