In Memoriam
THE REV. WARREN WINFiElD JACKSON
Whether in the pulpit, where he wa s noted for incisiveness and brevity , in the
classroom , or elsewhere, Mr. Jackson showed an inquiring, highly trained mind: a wide
range of knowledge and of interests. He asked that at least the seed of these qualities
should be di played by his students and friends: but he asked with such gentkne sa nd
good humor that while we were benefiting from his mind and personality we never fell
that our shortcomings would be rebuffed.
He wa a marvelous listener. We were conscious of talking to someone who would
remain totally unsentimental but would listen wi th warm understanding and a truly
human respon iveness a rare and remarkab le person. whose innuence will continue
to
affect our lives.
