In Appreciation
MR. WILLIAM ARMSTRONG OATES
Since his arrival at St. Paul's in 1942, Me. Oates has been a fri endly and integral part of
the School community . Beginning as a teacher of both History and Mathematics, he
became the School Registrar in 1946 and took over the job of Director of Admissions in

employed by the School, and even the assisting of Mr. Sawyer in handling Admissions and
Scholarships. In short, behind practically every facet of the School's operation lies the
guiding influence of Mr. Oates, planning for the future , overcoming difficulties, and
making our lives here at st. Paul's more enjoyable and rewarding.
