Students immerse themselves in the arts, traditions, and customs
of the world’s cultures while mastering the mechanics of another
language. Students develop a more global consciousness about the
many ways people in societies across the globe think and live. SPS
offers five modern languages: Chinese, French, German, Japanese,
and Spanish from beginning through advanced levels. The Classical
Honors Program attracts students who achieve a high level of com-
petence in Latin and Greek. You will meet in rooms featuring the
latest language-learning technology and in small classes, providing
lots of opportunity for speaking and learning from teachers, many
of whom are native speakers. Study abroad offers the opportunity
to improve your language skills in China, France, Germany, Greece,
Italy, Japan, and Spain.
