Beth Hurwitz
Development Associate / External Studies Coordinator
We welcome back Beth to Saint Edward’s School. Beth is a current parent of sophomore,
Andrew and Josh, ’16, who is a freshman at UVA. Her husband, Jeff, is the Treasurer of the
Board of Trustees. She received her bachelor’s degree in Marketing, with a minor in
Textiles, from Philadelphia University (Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science). Her
professional background includes 15 years in sales and marketing.
Amber Mullins
Lower School – Third Grade Teacher
Amber and her husband relocated from Gainesville, FL. She comes from the Oak Hall School where
she was a 2nd grade teacher, and also served as head of the “Portrait of a Graduate” committee,
member of the Reading/Writing/ Grammar committee, and representative of the Lower School
Social Studies committee. Amber was also a varsity girl’s lacrosse coach, establishing the lacrosse
program at a local high school, and coaching at Oak Hall. Amber graduated from the University of
Florida with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education.
Maria Segura
Alumni/Special Events Coordinator
Maria is a native of Vero Beach and a ’95 graduate of SES. She brings over 10 years of experience
in special events planning. As part of her United States Navy employment, she attended the
Defense Language Institute and was a member of the NAVY Run Team. Maria is a native Spanish
speaker and proficient in speaking Mandarin. She received her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality
Administration from Boston University, and Personal Trainer Certification from the International
Sports Science Association. Her husband, Jeffrey Petersen ’99 is a graduate of SES.
Lori Van Roekel
Lower School Receptionist/Library Assistant
Lori graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. After
graduation she worked in management at Bill’s Bookstore in Tallahassee, then worked with UCC
Filing Services doing research and document acquisition. Upon her return to Vero Beach, Lori
worked for Liberty Medical Supply/Medco Prescription Benefit Services, and later Bridgevine, Inc.,
where she handled customer service. She is now parenting her Pirate nephew Daniel and she’s
especially excited to be part of the Saint Edward’s School staff.
Betsy Wengler
Part-time Middle School – English and History Teacher
Betsy brings many years of Middle School teaching experience from St. Mary’s Episcopal Day
School in Tampa, to Oak Hall School in Gainesville and most recently, Stratford Academy in Macon,
GA. She has a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s degree from The Ohio State
University. Her husband, Dr. Craig Wengler, is a 2000 graduate of Saint Edward’s School, and her
two children, Guy and Belle, will be entering the PK and JK. We are very much looking forward to
having the Wengler family back in the fold.
