Of last year's letter men, Rinks, Smith, Whitaker, Mac- Blain, Charles, and Dillard are back, and it is upon these that Coach Crockett has formed the nucleus of the present team. A disappointingly small squad responded to the first call for candidates, and this lack of material has been the main difficulty with which the team has had to contend during the season. The epidemic of the "flu" put an end to all practice for a month, and caused :Manager McCulloch
to cancel many games greatly anticipated. Practice was immediately 1·esumecl, however, upon the reopening of school on ~ovember Gth, and on Satmday, November 9th, the season was formally inaugurated when the team journeyed to Charlottesville and there defeated the second eleven of the Woodberry Forest School.

Woodbeny kicked off to Smith, who ran the ball back fifteen yards.
