·we are pleased to note that 'Mr. Barth is making quite a success with his choristers, even though the "flu" prevented practice.
The library this year is in better condition than ever be- f01·e. It ha~ been completely reorganized and rccatalogued by Mr. }fatfield. Ho has entire charge, and the effects of his supervision are readily apparent. The library is being used more and lliore for study pmposes by the boys.
On Tuesda~·, Xovemher 12th, a meeting was called for all boys interested in the Thanksgiving dance. About forty boys responded, and elected H. Christian, Wm. Johnson, and · II. 0 . Dillard as a Hop Committee.
On Sunuay morning, November 17th, 1\fr. Nelson preached a sermon on "J-'iberty." His text was St. John 8:32: "Know the truth and the truth shall set yon free." His thesis showed that liberty is not the freeclom to do as you wish, but the power to do as you o11ght.
On the same eYening Mr. T. M. Terry, of Lynchburg, gave us a most interesting talk on the United War Relief Fund. Tie brought out the fact that our boys "o,·er there" needed caring for just as mnch now as when they were :fighting, and said that every patriotic Ame1·ican should give until it hurt.
Dr. ,Jett then appointed H. 0. Dillm·d to receive the sub- scriptions from the boys. A grand total of $313.46 was subscribed.
On :1-'Ionday, Kovember 18th, the G. A. A. met and ap- pointed H . Christian and "Gus" :Mitchell to sen·c as cheer learlers for the football season.
