January 3d, wo retumed to school. Our joy at ret-urning was marred by the knowledge that Mrs. Pendleton and :Mr. Dawson were ill.
Bill Charles, '20, and Whitaker, '19, were here for a few days just after the holidays. They were en route to Chapel Hill where they aro pursuing (we hope) their studies in en- gineering.
January lOth, R E. :MacBlain, '19, stopped here while en route to Sewanee.
Bishop Jett was here again Sunday, J anuary 16th.
The :h1ETEO& Staff journeyed to town Thmsdn.y evening, ,January 20th, and after dining sumptuously attended a musical comedy. The C\'ening was brightened by the tribute paid to Lady Nicotine. Even our staid pedagog indulged.
January 24th, Mr. Gwathmey attended a conference of the church schools, and schools affiliated with the church in Virginia. The conference was held at Grace Church Parish House, Richmond.
We are very glad that Chapman, Montgomery and Deyerle have returned to school, all of them having been absent on account of sickness, and hope that Lowndes will soon be suffi- ciently recoYcred to return. We arc sorry to say that C. J..ee's poor health will not permit his return this term.
January 31st, :h[r. Gwathmey held services in Epiphany Church of Danville, Ya.
:Monday night, February 7th, the Dramatic Club staged a delightful three-act play called "Caste."
