Contests-A Flop
In the last issue of TnE METEOR, announcements were made of two contests that were to be conducted by Trm :METEOR. However the re- sponse to these notices was so slight that both contests can be considered nothing more than a failure.
Only one picture was entered in the competition for feminine beauty and only one essay was written de- spite the first prize award of two dollars.
Those are the reasons why you see no beautiful damsels or breath taking essays in this issue of Trm METEOR.
The faculty and student body of the Virgiuia Episco- pal School wish to extend their deepest sympathies to Dr. E. T. Burns on the re-
cent death of his father.
SOCIETY
Easter Hop
Last month the Hop Committee held the Easter dance. The Barks- dale Gym was shaking with jive and swarming with rug cutters. A juke box with a good assortment of records furnished the music.
Leading off for the most popular record was Star Dust with Long Ago and Miss J"ou running close seconds.

During the dance there was ::t slight intermission, but this was taken care of, thanks to Clay and a few others.
The gladiators were cheered by their dates, and a good time was had by all. There was no loss of life and limb. Other details of the intermtsston entertainment a r e omitted by order of the Director of vVar Information.
