That Hard-Luck V. E. S. Nine
This Saturday the '44 Bishop baseball season closes at Orange, \'a., where the Tigers of \Voodber-
ry Forest play host to a hard-luck V. E. S. nine in the final tilt for Coach Short's boys.
Captained by John Williams and coached by Mr. Robert Short (see cover), this year's aggregation of diamond stars has experienced many a tough break. Despite overwhelm- ing defeats by Hargrave, Wood- berry and Miller School, the Bishops have continued to play good ball. This is shown by Episcopal's extra inning victory, a tie with Fork Union and several other "close ones." V. E. S. has definitely pro- duced a team of no mean caliber and a team that has not suffered from a victory famine as many are led to believe.
