A promising Bishop squad in Sep- tember has turned by November into a team held together only by ad- hesive tape and a prayer. Injuries have increased until now at least five first stringers may be unable to play in the St. Christopher game. Armis- tead, a proven veteran, has returned to see only part time action after being benched for several weeks with a leg injury similar to the one
and near-upsets. Notre Dame is tops in the non-conference bracket ond will be beoten only by Army.
Prep. Sehqpls--Woodberry Forest, led by Dean Davidson, is all set to take over the Virginio prep crown from St. Christopher, champs for the past two years. Lynn Chewning and Bill Hawkins, two Saint stars of last year, are showing up well for V. M. I. this yeor.

Chatham, Oct. 13-Hargrave Mil- itary Academy evened the series of games with Virginia Episcopal School here today at four games each by de- feating the Lynchburg team 14-6 be- fore a large Homecoming Day crowd. Hargrave ovenged last year's 13-0 defeat at the hands of the Bishops.
Hargrave scored first, taking Al- len's kickoff on their own 2b, and with Leps at the helm most of the way, scored with scorcely three minutes of the first period gone. Leps carried nine yards oround end for the score and also kicked the extra point.
In the second period V. E. S. marched to the Hargrave 35 on runs by Gower and a pass to Page, but the Cadets held and the rest of the quarter was spent in play around the mid-stripe.
In the third period Ballou, who was out of action during the first period because of injuries, entered the game for V. E. S. ond did most of the ball carrying. In a steady march, the Bishops carried the ball to the Har- grave 2-yard line, where the home team held for downs and Rowsey punted to Betty on the H. M. A. 25. On the next play, Betty flipped o pass to Ballou, who skirted end for 25 yards and a touchdown. The extra point, an attempted pass, was no good.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter Hyre recovered a fumble on the Cadet 35. Ballou, who had gone out ofter his touchdown run, come back into the gome and on the first play from scrimmage circled right end for o touchdown standing up, but the play was nullified because of a holding penalty. With less than three minutes to play, Rowsey was forced to run from punt formation because of a low center poss and was stopped on the V. E. S. 33. After a series of
running ploys which carried the ball t o t h e V . E. S . 3 , R o w s e y s c o r e d through tockle. Again Leps ' ploce- ment wos good. Leps kicked off to Allen on the IS, and he ran it back to the 30. V. E. S. drove to the Har- grave 40 where the Cadets took over os the game ended.

very promising lineman and a sure starter, was injured in practice before the season began. Tom Allen and !'errin Gower, both of whom have seen plenty of action this season, ore also on the injured list. John Page, the versatile Bishop end, received a leg injury in the Fishburne game which will keep him out for the re- mainder of the season.
The remam1ng game on the Bishop's schedule is a big question in the mind of Coach Bell, but need- less to say a teom with plenty of spirit and fight will answer to the opening whistle.
The South- Alaboma definitely has the bowl spirit and would like an- other crack at Duke, the teom that edged out the Tide in the Sugar Bowl last year. They moy get their wish unless they are called upon to par- ticipate in the Bowl of Roses at Pasa- dena agoinst the west coast champs. Tennessee, beaten only by Alaboma, will no doubt get a bowl bid. Vir- ginia, though hit hard by mid-season novy graduations, may go unde- feoted.
