hong on to. I hed God ond I knew thot He hod soved me once ond would sove me ogoin. In less thon two minutes I wos pulled oboord o lug boot. I ley on deck end vomited ond then pessed out cold. I come to in about five minutes ond by the time we got to Cherbourg I wos well enough to wolk off the boot. I refused to go to o hospitol be; couse I knew they would be crowded with the men thot were coming in from the "Bulge." Men were coming in with orms end legs blown off ond lots of men were neorly deod from drowning. At Ieos+ I could welk. They put us, the ones thet could wolk, in on ex.Germon concentrotion comp. We slept on pallets on the floor with ebout five blonkets. I thought I would never get werm egein. The
next doy, Chrislmos, we went to on ossembly point and hed our Christmos dinner. After o good meol I felt wonderful. I hod o slight cold to show for the colostrophe ... Thot's the story of the "Leopoldville." We lost 800 of the 2,000 men on boerd.
