SPORTS Defeat No. 6
Nov. 24.-V. E. S. lost its last game of the season on Johnson Field to St. Christopher's of Richmond, 33-0. Rixey, star left halfback, went over for two of the five touchdowns.
Early in the first quarter the Bishops lost Ballou, one of their best players, because of a hurt arm, which was later found to be fractured. V. E. S. used reserve strength most of the first half.
Gower substituted for the injured Ballou a t fullback, and was a con- stant threat for the remainder of the game, both on offense and defense.
In the first half, St. Christopher's drove 4S yards to score, with Rixey plunging over for the counter. Rixey scored again on an end run before the half. Chapman came in to make both points and the score stood 14-0 at the half.
The third quarter saw St. Christo- pher's drive from their own 18 to score again. The extra point was
wide. In the last quarter, Chapman, Saint star, entered the game and made another touchdown on a 20- yard sprint around end. Chapman had suffered a broken jaw in a pre- vious game and was forced to wear a wire brace.
The last touchdown was made by Wall, quarterback of the visiting team, on a short run around the Bishops' right end.
Late in the last quarter, Gower gained IS yards and a first down for V. E. S. He and Betty, Bishop half- back, took turns at carrying the ball and moved it from their own 30-yard line to the St. Christopher 40, only to have a pass from Betty inter- cepted, as the game ended.
