The Astronomical Calendar
Hoving finolly gotten around to writing this column, at least two days after the deadline, I find that there isn't o great deal to write about. However, be that as it may, I shall attempt to make it as un~nteresting as possible, so that you w1 I be able to skip over it without any sense of loss.
April 1-A pril
broted in a great way at the ~Mferent homes of V. E. S. boys. The biggest calamity was when someone sub· stituted round qoose eggs for pool balls in one of the Raleigh cue halls; even Crutchfield's couldn't get the egg stain out of John's drapes.
April 2- The qang's o'l back again, and thousonds of shovels are needed to shovel it out of the V-Ciub. Out of 93 boys, 92 requests. for week- ends were immediately fded. (Car- penter naturally wonted to stay here and study).
A p r i l 4 - B a s e b a l l prac~ice i s i n full swing again, what w1th .BOTH Blackie and Toby there. The a1r over the baseball fie!d is polluted for three days with pure nicotine extract.
April 10- The first baseball game of the season. We ore beaten by a team coming oil the way from .C:on- necticut just to see if Carol1n1ans actually do exist.
April 13- The briskball team sure is havinq a dismal start. We are even beaten .by Hargrave.
A p r i l 1 6 - L e p p ' s frien~. " B i g Jim" Bol'ou, is struck down 1n prac- tice by flying cleats owned by Grim~s Thomas. He wanted to have h1s wounded arm cut off, but then de- cided that he would need it to put the shot with in the coming track meet.
April 17- We are again humbled, this time by Staunton M. A. Just couldn't do a thing without "Our Boy" Ballou.
April 20-W e ore licked again on a windswept field by E. H. S. Every member of the squod knocked a ball that would hove been a homer in any other pork, but they were blown back so that the catcher had to run backwards to get them.
April 20-"Eggar" and "Jim" narrowly escape death under the wheels of a subway in that rousing metropolis of The Plains. " Pa! Val," being used to them, acts as 1f they
weren't even there. (The boys had quite an interesting time at Rock- wood on Saturday night).
April 27- The Bishops upset The Tigers on the Bishops' field. Edgar pitches a beautiful game for our first major win of the season.
May 1-A lonq trip is taken to Staunton, but the ball qame is rained out. To Toby and Ballou, however, the trip is very profitable.

May 7- W e journey to
only to be beaten again. This gets very monotonous, doesn't it??
W e final 'y get ano_ther Hyre pitches a three-h1tter to set down the Cadets from Fi5h- burne. It was a close game, being
won in the last of the last inning.
May 11--The trip to Woodberry ends in disaster. We are soundly trounced to the tunc of 15-1.
May IS- Due to North Carolina weather, we ore forced to postpone the qame with Hargrave. This north- ward moving rain is beginning to get everyone down.
May 7- We are beaten by Har- grave in a game that could only be termed lucky. Edgar pitched a beau- tiful game.
May 19- Well, baseball season is over now and what's that?-did someone mention a strange occu- pation called t r a c k? ? What's THAT??
Mav 20- Caro'ina weather still prevails, forcing everyone to wear raincoats to town.
May 21 - Pictures are taken!!! A t least a hundred tubes of lpana are used up in on effort to make the pictures as photogenic as possible. The photographer tries to get a spot off of his lens while taking the pic- ture of The Meteor Staff, but dis- covers that it is not actually a spot, but Mr. Follett.
Well, since this is the last writing that I will do for The Meteor, let me bid you all a fond farewell, and hope that you never have to go through the agony of reading another column like this one -So long!!
The faculty and student body wish to express their deepest sym- pathies to Jack Wiggins on the death of his father, Jacob E. Wiggins.
