Rev. Marshall Milton 's Air Scout Unit started the year with a total membership of twelve boys, six of whom are new recruits. The unit holds weekly meetings and o few boys, on Monday mornings, ore tak- ing flying lessons. Among these ore Cardwell, Clary, Farris, Finch, Mod- dux, T., ond Nutt, W. Through the Air Scouts some boys have requested and are to receive two transmitters and three receivers from a B-25.
The newly organized Sea Scout Unit, under Mr. Phelps's direction, now comprises about fifteen members. The unit, organized with Scott Taylor os o prime mover, is looking over possi- bilities of equipment in Lynchburg ond is hopinq to purchase o boot, probably o 20-foot whaleboat, from the Navy surplus supplies. They ore also thinking o f giving, in conjunc- tion with the Hop Committee, one of the minor donees os o Sea Scout dance.
Teachers Also Graduate
Mr. ond Mrs. Dawson are now liv- ing in Alexandria, where Mr. Dawson is assisting his brother in the man- agement of a hotel-tourist camp.
Mrs. Payne is enjoying o well-earned and long-sought retirement ot her home in Amherst, Yo.
Mr. Bell is now on the faculty of Champlain College, Plattsburg , New York, which hos recently been estab- lished ·to toke care of the overflow of students from Eastern colleges.
Mr. Carroll is now resuming his war-interrupted retirement on his form five miles south of Lynchburg.
Mr. Jarrard is continuing his teaching career at the Emory School, Oxford, Go.
Mr. Garnett is teaching ot Fish- burne Military School.
Mr. Ruffin, of Third West fome, is now at Woodberry Forest School.
Mr. Stevenson is now on instructor at Washington ond Lee University, his alma mater.
Mr. Grail hos returned to teach ot the prep school which he attended in the United States, the Stanford School in Wilmington, Del.
News in Brief
John F. Reed, II, has returned to the school and resumed the duties as
counselor which he left in 1943. He is living in the gymnasium.
On Sunday, October 20th, Dr. and Mrs. Barton left the school for ten days, which constituted Dr. Barton's vocation. They visited friends in Buf- falo, N. Y., Niagara Foils, N. Y., and Niagara Foils, Ont., returning on Oc- tober 30th. During Dr. Borton's ob- scence Mr. Banks, acting in his posi- tion os Senior Moster, was in charge of the school.
On Wednesday, October 9th, the trustees of the school held their an- nual meeting in the reception room in the Main Building; but, in the words of Dr. Borton , "purely routine busi- ness was enacted." One interesting absentee was Dr. Robt. A. Magill, rector of St. John's Church in Lynch- burg, who is now on a tour of Chinese Missions.

While this year's Boy Scout activ- ities at Y. E. S. consist of o continu- ation of the Junior and Senior troops, the Senior troop is divided into two qroups, the Sea ond Air Scouts, the Sea Scouts being something new to ~he school.
The Troop Committee, which serves oil three divisions, is composed of Mr. Gonnowoy, chairman, Mr. Holla- day, and Mr. Magnuson.
The Junior Troop, ogoin under the direction of Mr. Follett, assisted by Daniel ond Doyle, hove elected Har- mon ond Goiser Patrol Leaders. They hold weekly meetings in the cabin,
