Bedford Beats Bishops
The Bishops faded away m the
last 1nnings of the game as Bedforrl High doubled the score 16 8 on !he Bishor's home territory. The Bcrl ford nine, led by Oversteet on the 1101md, ~c,~f tho Bishops in hot wato for the entire nine innings. Andrews nncl Akers shared the pitching duties for V. E. S. George Lewis got four fN five, and Gordon for the Bedford nine got four for six to hit the top of the batting league.

Agnor gof four for five, while Ogden got two for five, to fop the botting status. Walton, a hard hit- ling left fielder, connected with the only +ririe of the day 1n the fifth inninq; and Agnor got a double in the fir5l 1nnmg. Hargrave began piling 1n runs in tho first inning and kept them crossing the plate throughout the rest of the game.

The Bishops bowed to the Har- grave nine a second time this sea- son 6-1 . Agnor, the military power- house, swatted a homer in the first inning to bring in two runs, making the score 3-0. George Lewis crossed the plate for the Bishop's only tally of the game. Andrews pitched for V. E. S. while Walton did the hurling for Hargrave. Walton also got three two base hits to top the batting p a r a d e . The Bishops l e f t n1ne on bases while Hargrave left only five.

Gentry held the mound for Mil lor and Akers and Andrews hurled the rock for the Bishops. The first throe innings spelled defeat for !he Bishops ..,s the Millers brought 111 twelve of their fourteen runs then. Tho Bishops had a rally in the fifth that brought in six runs and another in the sixth that brought in throe.
A Pitcher's Battle
George Andrews of V. E. S. and
Brochu of Miller School turned in the best mound duel V. E. S. has seen all year as Miller edged out the Bishops 2-0 in the season's final game.
Brochu came within three men of a perfect game as he gave up only one single, two walks, while fanning eighteen.
Andrews pitched excellent ball for the Bishops by scattering eight hits, fanning five, and walking none. The Miller boys took full advantage of two Bishop infield errors to account for their two runs.
