The Faculty
At V. E. S. the word faculty means something more than just " a little group of masters." It could mean this, but there has arisen a stronger feeling of good will between the faculty and the boys. Our faculty could be termed as, "a small band of men tirelessly giving their time and patience to our social and educa- tional enlightment.'' The V. E. S. faculty is composed of a group of masters who strive incessantly to give us a proper education. Many times the boys seem disgruntled over an ap- parent injustice but never consider themselves in the "shoes" of the master.
These members of the faculty teach class, coach athletic teams, sponsor various school functions and give up nights to assist boys who are having trouble in their work which gives them little time for social activities.
Being away from home, problems will naturally arise in a boy's mind. The master devotes his free time to straightening the boy out and help hi m overcome his problem. In this capacity they have picked up many boys from despondency.
W e should really appreciate the faculty immensely but it often slips our minds. We fail to recognize the fact that a few men have left no stone unturned in giving us every
break possible. These unselfish men have finished school with degrees and come to V. E. S. to share what know- ledge we can absorb. They are will- ing to share their knowledge with us though frequently we are too stub- born to accept it.
The faculty is relentlessly striving with us for a common goal, our educa- tion. This doesn't mean just for our academic attainments but also teach- ing us our duties and obligations to society. W e shou ld like to extend our hands in warmest sincerety to the faculty. To quote: "Never have so few given so much for so many."
