Charles lnglesby Penick, son of the Right Reverend Edwin A. Penick of Raleigh, was ordained by his father to the Diaconate at Christ Church in Raleigh. After one year's study here he entered the University of North Carolina, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree after serv- ing three years in the Navy. He then entered the Theolgical Seminary of
the University of the South at Sewanee and last June received a Bachelor of Divinity degree.
After being ordained he will be transferred to the Diocese of East C a r o 1ina where he will begin his ministry in the Episcopal Church as deacon in charge of Grace Episcopal Church at Whiteville. He will also serve certain missions on the Inland Water Way.

Charles P. Bugg received his Medi-
cal Degree from Johns Hopkins Uni- versity this past J une and will serve his internship of two years there.

Ralph Houston Alexander, Jr. was
married on the 28th of this month to Miss Julia Peteat Upchurch of Char- lotte, N.C. Mr. Alexander of Marion, N. C. is a lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force.

Robert Isaac Lee, Jr. was married
just recently to Miss Josephine Fidelia Snow both of Raleigh, N. C. Miss Snow graduated from Meredith Col- lege with honors and Mr. Lee is a graduate of North Carolina State College and served in the Navy in World Wor II. They are residing at V. E. S. where Mr. Lee is now teach- ing.

William Henry Thomas, II was mar-
ried recently to Miss Nancy Moye Yepsen of Welch, W. Va.
1947
Robert Morton Hughes, Ill was
married durinq the summer to Miss Jean Goode Davis. Mr. Hughes is an ensign in the U. S. Navy.
Robert A. Magill, an alumnus and now a master at V. E. S., attended the wedding which was held in Hamp- ton, Va.
Thomas Henderson Maddux, Ill was married last June to Miss Caroline
Byrd Tall of Baltimore, Md.
Robert Whitaker graduated from
the United States Naval Academy this past June. Congratulations and best of luck, Bob.
1948
Private James M. Macleod has completed processing at the 2053d Reception Center, Fort George G. Meade, Md. and is now assigned to the 5th Infantry Division, Indiantown Gap Military Reservat ion, Penn. for Army basic training.
After completing "Basic"' he will be assigned to the leadership course prior to attending the Infantry officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga. Private Macl eod is also an alumnus of Virginia Military Institute.

Department of Religion at R.-M.W.C. here in Lynchburg. He and his wife, the former Miss Jane Clark Cheshire of Raleigh, N. C. are residing on Ter- rell Place in the city.

Forrest Fletcher, Jr. and Miss Helen Virginia Tilson were married recently. John Pratt Mason, an alumnus of V. E. S. and a cousin of the groom, was best man. Miss Tilson is an alum-

Herbert Bruce Thomson, Jr. was
married recently to Miss Persia Owen, both of Lynchburg.
Mr. Thompson is a graduate of V. E. S. and Dartmouth College in Hanover, N. H.
They are now residing in Lynch- burg.

On Sept. 21, Mr. and Mrs. Gannaway became the proud grandparents of a red-headed baby boy. The chip off the old block is the son of their oldest d a u g h t e r , Edie, who is now Mrs. Robert P. Hart. Mr. and Mrs. H a r t a r e living in Mr. Hart's home town of Cologne, Va. The baby's name is Michael Bland Hart.
