The Missing Element
Something is definitely missing. And that essential element is termed school spirit. Doubtless enough ink to float the "Missouri'' has been wasted trying to incite group spirit into a group of students. Nevertheless, the author deems it wise to waste some more.
Old boys will recall the Hargrave basketball game last year, when the " BISHOPS" reversed their status as IS-point underdogs to conquer the "cagers" from Chatham. During that game, from start to finish, there was a group spirit which served as the shot in the arm which far surpasses the best pep talk Mr. Rockne ever delivered. With this kind of spirit in every game, we could doubtless have field teams that would show well in any competi- tion.
There should be no need to bring this to your attention; it should be a spontaneous reaction on our part. The Rebel hats sold like wildfire in a day, so let's all pitch in and make this thinq SELL ! ! ! LET'S RESTORE THE MISSING ELEMENT! !
Another Victory For The Machine
(Continued from page 5, col. I)
turn to (quiver) school, the alarm was
out, and two of their number were captured. The other six fought desperately, and not in vain, for they made a clean qetaway. For them, the price was small, and the fruits reaped were great. However, I fear the fate of the two ringleaders will not be so rosy. It is a hot debate in faculty as to the punishment: capital (sudden death) or hideous torture (draw your own conclusions.)
So, ya' see, things were going smooth-like, until t h e Machine g o t wise, after 35 years of stagnant dormancy. However, we who remain unscarred will no doubt continue to fight the Machine with dogged grit and determination.
