W alter Schulte
Joining the two other newly-wed
couples here at V. E. S. are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schulte, who are occupy- ing the Johnstons' old apartment. Mr. Schulte is basically a northerner, since he was bo rn in Syracuse, but his family moved to Wauwatosa, a sub- urb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed high school there and then went into the Navy and was stationed a t the Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida. During the two years he was there he played on the football team with Art Guepe and Ned Mc- Donald, coaches of the present U. Va. powerhouse. When he got out of the Navy he went to U. Va. where he played varsity football for four years, two at tackle, two at guard.
During these years he played against such stalwarts as Red Bagnell of Penn., Andy Davis of George Washington, and two less known athletes, Justice and Hosea Rodgers of some North Carolina school. He participated in the tremendous up- set of Pennsylvania in '49, but it is unknown whether he participated in throwing chairs out of hotel windows after that game.
Mrs. Schulte is teaching at the John W. Wyatt school in Lynchburg. She met Mr. Schulte when they were together at the University., She hails from the capitol of the Confederacy, Richmond. They were marrie d on August 15, 1951.
W e of the school welcome you, Mr. Schulte, t o your duties as his- tory tea cher, football coach and base- ball coach. To you also Mrs. Schulte, we extend a very cordial welcome. Ralph B. Shore
Among the new faces we are wel- coming along faculty row this year are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Shore.
Mr. Shore was born in New Castle, Indiana, but became a resident of East Bend, North Carolina in 1937. After graduating from public schools in East Bend, Mr. Shore attended the sum- mer session at the University of North Carolina.

The Rev. Ernest H. Forster
We are immensely happy to wel-
come the Rev. Ernest H. Forster to V. E. S. as our new chaplain. He is far from being a stranger in a boys' school; having had considerable ex- perience in this field.
Mr. Forster has recently returned from Shanghai, China, where he served on the faculty in the Central Theological School of St. John 's University.
A native of Philadelphia, he at- tended public schools there. In 1917 he received his B.A. degree from Princeton University and furthered his education by doing graduate work at Johns Hopkin s.
He taught at St. Paul's school in Baltimore and in 1920 went to China to teach in the Maban School in Y a n c h o w . I n 19 2 5 M r . F o r s t e r r e - turned to the United States for a year's study at Philadelphia Divinity School. He was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1927.
He returned to the Maban School and served as priest-in-charge of Yanchow Station and as a mission- ary in the Nanking area.
The war forced him to return to this country in 1943. He served as rector of Trinity Church in Milford, Massa- chuetts, returning to China in 1946 as a missionary in Hsickwan, Nanking.
