On The Track
Last year's "world beater" track team is about to start a brand new season. A glance at the swarm on the lower field shows that something is missing. We're going to have to work for our field events now. Our one man track team, " Moose" Muse is gone.
Fore!!
This year V.E.S. will be represented with a golf team for the first time. A couple months ago Mr. Gannaw.ay called a meeting of all the boys In- terested in forming the team and the response was immense. There were around twenty eager, future "Sammy Sneads" present and ready to go. Mr. Gannaway's announcement of their having to use their own clubs failed to dampen the enthusiasm. The Oak- wood Country Club course will be used.
So far we have managed to line up two matches with W oodberry Forrest and the chances of having one with Episcopal High are good.
The team prospects are good also. We have "little professionals" in Jimmy Davidson, Brant Snavely, and Sox Sibley. Around these a v~ry satisfactory team should be budt. Here 's hoping for you r first season to be a successful one, and certain- ly not your last.

YOUNG MEN'S FASHIONS
The J. V.'s Get a Night Club
It was a long, hard, tedious job, but it wasn't enough to thwart the super-human efforts of Mr. Robert Isaac Lee, Esq. In a comoaratively short time, young " Rock " has con- verted the old hovel that used to be the J. V. club room into a lavish lounge with new chairs, floor ashtrays, and a classy vic (with hard records.) The room has a new two-tone paint job which adds to its luxuriant, lush beauty. To the above-mentioned Mr. Lee goes all credit for the tremen- dous job. Mr. Lee has put in every
spare moment he's had, a nd then some, on this task. Congrats, Bubas, the club thonks yo!
Peering Into Baseball
As we look out towards Langhorne Field, we see the baseballs beginning to fly from person to person as the baseball season draws nigh once again. This year's season should be a very successful one with seven of last yea r's lettermen returning and some very promising new prospects.
To man the battery there is "Bee Bee" Thompson, a returning catcher, with our t wo veteran pitchers, "Sox" Sibley and Blair Farinholt, (who by the way is thinking up a very new kind of pitch.) These will likely be given aid in this department by Bill Stokes and the one and only Jim Wiley. This may prove to be one of the strongest points of the team.
Around the horn in the infield we should have very good support also, we have two very capable men, Bill Stokes and "Porky" McClure who will doubtless have a very hot race for the "first" bose spot. At "sec- ond" we have Milton Barber, who should come through with some fine performances this season. A t "short" and "third" we have some new ma- terial in the persons of Bill Leggett, Owens Jones, Hurtt Deringer, "Hill Billy" McCurry and maybe others. There will be a good battle here also and we should have strength in these positions too. Out in the outfield we have the veterans Fred Schilling and Gibby Roe at "left " and "center"
respectively with some likely new members, as Joe Barber and others, which should fill outfield with very good talent.
The outlook for this year's season presents the brightest light that I have seen in a long time. The base- ball team ought to really go places this year under the able coaching of Mr. Lee.

expected to take up the slack left by "Moose" with the help of a base- ball transfer, Kemper, handyman on the discus and shot. Barlow turns in a fine effort on the javelin while Peirson devotes some of his talents to the broad jump, which will feel the loss o f Proctor. Coach Bartol will look to Grubb and other new blood for help in the high jump. Davidson, with help from Gregory, is expected to take care of the pole vault.
On the cinders, most of the run- ners from last year are back. Peir- son, Hughes, or Grubb are expected to do well in the I00 yd. dash and
the 220 yd. dash. In the 440 yd. run we are pretty well set with Farinholt, Wilson and Barlow. Wilson will be heard from in the 880 yd. run. Our state meet miler, Hudgins. is back. The 220 yd. low hurdles will be well taken care of by Peirson with possible
help from Peterson. Barlow and Peter- son will also be seen flying over the high hurdles.
The returning talent we know is good and there is some awfully promising looking new talent running around loose that should help a lot. With this combination of new and old we should be able to look forward to another very successful track season. At least, that's the way it looks from here.
