ALUMNI
Dear Fellow Alumni;
The thirty·sixth year of the Vir- ginia Episcopal School is drawing to a close wilh new members soon to be added to our list. There are act- ually about twelve hundred fifty of us Alumni who are receiving the Meteor, but not as many active mem- bers of the Association as I would like to see.
Did you know that there is already a "nest egg" in our fund toward scholarships fo r sons of A lumni? This is an undertaking in which we should all be interested, but it takes more than a "nest egg" to do much good. A little interest from all of us should soon make it hatch. Three years ago, we were asked to contri- bute one dollar for each year we have been out of school, up to ten dollars, and then continue to con- tribute two dollars each year as dues to the Association for which we will receive the Meteor. The big majority of us have been getting the Meteor free as the following figures will show. During the year 1951-52 there have been one hundred forty three con- tributors. Twenty six of these were for more than the two dollars dues, to- taling two hundred seventeen dollars. The total income for this year is four hundred eighty five dollars. A t the present time we have in the treasury one thousand five hundred fifty one dollors and two cents. Let us show the school and each other that we are still interested to the extent that we are willing to help.
We Alumni can help the school in other ways such as talking to other people about sending their boys to V.E.S. We can send our own boys there. This year there were fourteen sons of Alumni on the roll.
Did you know that the fund for the Bishop Jett Memorial is an actual fact? It is planned to take the form of a much needed Headmasters House at the school.
Homecoming for next fall will be announced at a later date. I am certainly looking forward to a good lurn·out of Alumni-let's top all rec- ords for attendance. Write to some of your old buddies and meet them ·,here.
Faithfully yours, for a bigger and better Alumni Association,
