V. E. S. Whips Schoolfield, 14-0 The Bishops made it two in a row on Johnson Field on the eleventh of October by a score of 14-0. The Bis- hops stopped the Schoolfield cold in the air and allowed only a small
total of ground yardage.
This game cost the service of Joe
Towe, who broke his leg. Towe played equally well on offense and defense . Even though he played in only three plays in the game he took a leading part in all three plays. He carried the kickoff back six yards, threw an incomplete pass, and then carried the ball for six more yards in the play which broke his leg. He will be missed a qreat deal as the season progresses.
The Bishops scored their first tou ch- down when, late in the first quarter, Milton Barber returned a punt seven- teen yards to his own 22. Joe Barber then carried the pigskin to the 43. Then Farinholt chucked a pass to Lea Powell for 17 yards to Schoolfield's 36. Next Blair Farinholt whizzed around end for thirty-six yards and pay dirt. J o e Barber bulled his way over for the extra point.
Early in the second period the Bis- hops rolled again. Milton Barber re- turned a punt 27 yards to the op- ponent's 33. J oe Barber carried for ten to the twef'lty-three. Then Bob Hughes slipped throuqh the School- field line and streaked for the goal. Joe Barber split the uprights for the extra point.
The last half was a series of blunders and mistakes. The Bishops came with- in scoring distance four times but never got over. Kemper, B. S. Smith, Stephenson and Ke II o g q fell on Schoolfield fumbles to offset late drives by the opposition.

both failed to score.

went 68 yds. in 12 plays for a T.D. bulled over for the T.D. Jimmy David- son then rushed thru the line and fell on the fumble of the attempted convers1on.
The Tigers scored again in the first quarter with Hobbs, Evans, Williams and Blair carrying the mail. The McGee placement was good. Toms intercepted a Bishop pass and raced 45 yds. for the last Woodberry score.
The Bishops then closed the scoring for the day with an 85 yd. drive. Hughes returned the kickoff 20 yards to his own 35. M. Barber then com- pleted a six yard pass to Hughes. A short run by M. Barber carried the ball to the Tiger 45. M. Barber then

Saints Win Over Bishops, 25-13
St. Christopher's of Richmond, a much heavier but far slower team, handed the Bishops a 25- 13 defeat. V.E.S., playing with the loss of three top backs, didn't get rolling until too late.
The Bishops lost the ball on a fumble in the first play and four downs later the Saints scored on a plunge by Frazer. The Saints rolled again only to be stopped on the Bishop's five yard line.
McLauqhlin got the second score- for the Saints with an end sweep, good for 20 yards. The rest of the half was devoted to a display of good defensive work with "Bull" Smith, Davidson and Emory showing up well for the Bishops.
The Saints scored again in the third period with Mclaughlin scoring the T.D. After that it was a different qame. The Bishops stormed back, fighting mad, with Milt Barber pav- ing the way for a 70 yard drive and score .
Davidson's interception of a Saint pass opened the way for the first Bis- hop score with Davidson and Kellogg as mail carriers and Milt Barber tak- ing to the air to hit Lea Powell with a pass for the scoring play.
The Bishops then played such a tight defensive game that the Saints were forced to kick. Milton Barber took the ball on the Bishop's 40 and, picking up a five man interference, raced down the sidelines to score, a beautiful run. The Saints came right back and grabbed a Bishop pass, racing 26 yards to paydirt. The Bishops then fought against time for the rest of the quarter but lost.
