V. E. S. - Cranbrook
V. E. S. opened up the '54 baseball
season host to a touring team from Cranbrook, Michigan and wound up on the long end of a I0-4 score. The Bishop's hopped on Cranbrook pitcher Morris for 4 runs in the first innings but after allowing Cranbrook eight runs in the fifth were never able to overcome the deficit.
I n t h e f i f t h D a v e S l o t k i n ' s t r i p le with the bases loaded got Cranbrook off to a good start. Helped along by a combination of base hits and Bishop errors, Cranbrook pushed across eight runs. Cranbrook went on to pile up runs to defeat the Bishops I0-4.
The Bishops were able to salvage partial comfort from the fact that Farinholt pitched good ball for four innings and that Roe looked good in his debut in left field.

Farinholt Pitches 1-Hitter For Bishops
Behind the one-hit pitching of Blair Farinholt, the V. E. S. Bishops blasted arch-rival Episcopal High, 6-0. The lone E. H. S. hit was a bunt which Farinholt fielded perfectly but held too long. No Episcopal-hit ball went out of the infield.
Meanwhile, the Bishops were go- ing to work scoring three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Fred Daughtry and Carlton Mc- Clure were the big guns of the V. E. S. attack, banging out two hits apiece. The team got only six hits off the offerings of W aters and Pixton but, playing a fiery heads-up game, capitalized on every maroon miscue ond scored heavily.
