Philip Martin Hassell who is in his second and last year at these fair acres hails from the thriving metropo- lis of Radford. While Tomy has had a lot of trouble lately in dodging the draft, he still has compiled quite a r e c o r d . T wice he won his le t t e r in J. V. football and once last year in basketball. This year he joined the world famous FAT MEN and won a starting position on the team. Last year he earned his varsity letter in track and is now a member of the V Club. This year he will undoubtedly
be one of the main performers on the cinders. An example of "Monk's" popularity was clearly demonstrated when he was elected to be a member of the vestry. This year Tommy is one of the rugged 3rd West boys, holding down his position as heod lover of the gang . A t the beginning of the year Tom worked in the store, and he also is a waiter. Tom's friendly
nature makes him one of the best liked boys in school. We all know that " Monk" will be a big success ot Hampden-Sydney, where he hopes to go to college, and we wish him plenty of good luck.

David Herbert Otis Lawson has been here two years, and has done a lot in that time. Last year he was on 1he Meteor staff and was a charter member of the smoker's league. He is taking a combination of fifth and sixth form subjects this year, but despite this you will find him up on dorm during the day. Laas is also one of the Spanish II boys, who are well- known for their intelligence and calm attitude. He is one of the most popular boys in school, and recogn- ized for his ready wit, keen sense of humor, and sharp quips. The lanky frame , topped by that shock of red hair (referred to as the W ALKING WEED) will be leaving us next year, not for his hometown college, Vir- ginia, but for Dartmouth. Good luck, Dave.
