Bishops Tripped By Woodberry
The Bishops lost their first game of the 1954 season here to Woodberry Forest, by a score of 53-41.
Playing a loose floor game and tossing the ball away too frequently cost the Bishops their chances of whipping the larger team. The Tigers forged ahead in the first quarter and were never led in the ball game.
Tom James, the day's high scorer with 19, was outstanding for the Orangemen, while Sid Payne played well off the backboards and Charlie Rouse and Johnny Nowell played good floor games.
Agafn Jim Woolery was the Bishop defensive star. Blair Farinholt led the Bishop scoring with I0, followed by Woolery at 9. Jerre Parker was tough under the boards and " No" Smith, Brent Nash, and Milt Barber sank their share of shots and played good defensive ball.
Bedford - YES Game
After trailing throughout the firs half, Bedford High School bounced back in the second half to nip the Bishops 50 to 47 at Bedford High.
The Bishops jumped off to a fa:· start and held a 5 point advantage at the end of the first period. At the end of the half, they held a sma margin of four points.
The Bedford qu intet, however overcame the disadvantage and, will two minutes remaining in the game held a three-point margin.
